Abstract Development of carding machine airflow was discussed. Through introducing research development of carding machine airflow at home and abroad£¬the airflow was divided into taker-in zone£¬cylinder & flat zone£¬front and back cover plate zone£¬web cleaner zone£¬cylinder & doffer zone£¬the trends of the research were analyzed and summed up. It is considered that the research will change from qualitative research to quantitative research. Non-contact measure is adopted£¬the airflow motion state could be tested exactly. Through aerodynamics£¬carding theory and computational fluid dynamics etc£¬airflow motion model of corresponding cylinder and flat or cover plates could be established to guide carding machine design and production.
